Already Over Four Months Old!

Our little superstar is getting so big! I can't believe that he is already almost five months old! Where did the time go? A little over two weeks ago we took Kieran for his four month check-up at the doctor's office. True to form, our little guy remains in the 100th percentile in both height and weight (18 lbs 14 oz., 27.5 in. long--and he's only gotten bigger since then!). Much to David's chagrin, his head is only in the 50th percentile (I still think it's pretty big at 16.5 in!) although the doctor assured him it that it wasn't head size that mattered but rather what you do with what's inside that head. I also reminded David that although he has a fairly large head, mine is actually rather small but that doesn't mean I'm any less smart than he is. Perhaps this just means that Kieran will end up with doing something in the humanities rather than the sciences. David was not appeased by any of this and has been incessant in his ever-so-sweet thrice daily reminders to take my (non-fish oil) Omega-3 essential fatty acid supplements so Kieran will get lots of good brain building nutrients in his milk. I hadn't been taking them because I thought they might have been the reason I was breaking out in hives at the end of my pregnancy and for a month or two after Kieran was born. I have begun taking them again and so far, so good. I just hope it stays that way!
Omega-3s or not, Kieran is thriving. He's just so inquisitive all the time. He's getting to be a pro at grabbing things and manipulating them; most of the time they end up in his mouth. He still loves the outdoors, and now that the weather has cooled off a bit, we're spending lots of time outside in our backyard and at the park.
Kieran has also become quite the babbler. Sometimes he's just content to sit on our laps and jabber away for 20 minutes at a time, which is quite fun. Yesterday I was gone all day--I left before Kieran woke up--and I got home right before he went to bed. Little KRUF got so excited to see me when I walked in the door, though. He just kept laughing and laughing every time he looked at me. It was that "I'm so happy to see you and the only noise I can think of to make is this really super hyper giggle" laugh. It just made my day!
Kieran has really adjusted to spending time with another caregiver, and things are going really well in that area. They seem to get along great, and I have no qualms about leaving him with her all day on the days I'm gone. David and I both feel fairly confident that part of the reason that KRUF is developing in leaps and bounds is due to her wonderful interaction with him.

I wish I had time to write more, but a massive amount of reading summons me. Hopefully there will be less time between posts this time around, but I can't make any guarantees since school is demanding the vast majority of my free time these days. As always, I leave you with a pic of our little guy (taken right after his doctor's appointment) hanging out with his dad in the hammock in our backyard. Arrivederci~
